Once upon a time, in a quiet village, there lived a hardworking donkey. This donkey spent his days carrying heavy loads of grain and wood from the fields to the market. He was strong, but he was often laughed at by the other animals because he looked so plain and ordinary.
One day, while walking through the forest, the donkey found something strange lying on the ground—a lion’s skin! He looked at it carefully. “Wow! This is a real lion’s skin,” he said, his eyes wide with excitement. He thought of a clever plan.
The donkey quickly put the lion’s skin over his back. Suddenly, he didn’t feel like a plain old donkey anymore. He looked fierce and strong! “No one will recognize me now,” he thought.
The donkey walked proudly through the forest. The other animals saw him and were terrified. “It’s a lion! Run!” shouted the deer. The rabbits jumped in fear, and even the foxes ran away. The donkey felt very proud. “Ha! Look at them running! I’m the strongest in the forest now!”
Feeling confident, the donkey started braying loudly to show off. But oh no! His loud braying sounded exactly like a donkey, not a lion. The animals realized the trick and laughed. “It’s just a donkey in a lion’s skin!” they cried. The donkey became very embarrassed and quickly ran away, hiding the lion’s skin under a tree.
After that day, the donkey learned an important lesson. Even if you look fierce on the outside, your true nature always shows. Pride and pretending to be someone you’re not can lead to embarrassment.
Moral:
Do not pretend to be someone you are not. True nature always shows, and pride can lead to trouble.
